Chambray, it’s all the Rage

The popularity, or maybe it is more accurate to say the recognition of the fabric chambray has increased over the past year or so. Most of your favorite brands have been making chambray everything! It comes mostly in blue (better looks if you type in J.Crew), but you can find items in red, and black as well.

I took a look at Google Trends, and the data supports that there has been an increase in  searching for chambray this year, versus 2009.

I bought this shirt last winter at the Salvation Army, I don’t remember how much I spent for it, but I am sure it was around $5 or less.  The shirt got the works, sleeves slimmed, and the body tapered. I haven’t worn it too much though, but it is a good piece to have and an alternative color to the more popular blue chambray.

The guys over at Street Ettiquette, recently did a post on chambray, for a little history, check them out!

(The before shot, was taken with my P&S, while my DSLR lens was in the shop for repairs. That’s the reason for the color and quality difference in the photos)

  1. I personally love the red & black chambray but understand that the blue will always be a classic. The new version looks excellent. Imma need you to actually WEAR it though…

Great post, Shidi. The red chambray is really nice. You did a nice job doctoring up the shirt. Keep up the good work.

  3. Thanks folks!

Yes, I need to figure out how to better incorporate into my wardrobe. I actually have a blue shirt l/s, and a s/s chambray shirt also.

I also need to fix the issue with my comments covering up the pics!
